Pagerank Zero Is Not Enough

Posted by Melo

These past three days I’ve noticed a drastic drop in [Kabalyero].com’s wordpress blog stats. I also noticed that the common keywords or search engine terms used to find the blog suddenly stopped appearing in the stats. It seems that those keywords used by people to find the blog suddenly stopped producing hits. Below are some screenshots of the blog’s wordpress stats before the sudden drop in traffic. dNeero Social Surveys

Posted by Melo

I was doing my not so regular rounds of dropping Entrecards when I saw in one of the blogs a banner saying something like “This is a paid response. Click it to view the questions and answers.” The word “paid response” got my attention and since I am always looking for ways to monetize my blogs I clicked on it. The banner took me to dNeero. Well, I’m guilty of not viewing the questions and answers for that particular banner because when I got there I immediately clicked on that big green button with the word Blogger on it. When the page loaded, I then visited the Blogger FAQ page. After going through the FAQs and finding that there were no country restrictions or any other restrictions that would disqualify me to join, I signed up.

Signing-up with dNeero is very easy. It’s just your typical sign-up form which will ask for your name, e-mail, password, the are you human test and agreeing to their terms. After signing-up, you will then be taken to a page where you’ll need to answer some pretty basic questions like gender, marital status, location, etc. Questions that, I guess, will help them in assigning to you surveys that matches your profile. Once completed, you are now ready to take your first survey. The result of my first survey can be viewed by hitting the banner below.

Post or Page Disappeared From Google

Posted by Melo

Today, Brian Combs, VP of Services at Apogee Search, commented to one of my post with a link to his study or test of the effect of Lord Google’s punishment to PPP blogs (and others). The punishment given by Lord Google was he took away his holy blessings (pagerank) from these blogs (dropped to pagerank 0) which made these blogs unable to take anymore opportunities from PPP and other sites that offer “get paid to blog” services.

Now, many argued that the drop did not affect the blogs search engine ranking in Google. In fact, most, if not all, continuou to get tons of traffic from Lord Google.

Quoted below is part of Brian’s conclusion to his study. Read the full report here.

Conclusions: Clearly, the claims that PPP blogs have lost all ability to pass link juice have been definitively proven false.

Reconsideration, Magazine and Review

Asked Lord Google For Reconsideration

My last PPP post matured on the 15th of January 2008 and that means I can now request Lord Google for some reconsideration regarding my other blog which I did. You see, my blog Kabalyero.com was slapped by Lord Google with a pagerank of 0 for doing PPP. Lord Google did not like that one bit and decided to punish that blog by dropping its pagerank to 0. I stopped doing PPP after that because there weren’t anymore opportunities for me to take for that blog. Now that all my PPP posts have matured, I asked Lord Google to reconsider the punishment given and give back Kabalyero.com’s pagerank.

But before I asked for reconsideration, I first fixed what Lord Google considered as a violation and those were the paid post itself. No, I did not delete them. Instead of deleting them, I added the “nofollow” attribute on all links found in all paid posts. Adding “nofollow” disables the ability of a link to pass pagerank and that’s what Lord Google hates with paid post. Now that the’re all “nofollow” links they won’t be passing anymore pagerank. I’m really hoping that what I did is enough to please Lord Google since doing paid post for PPP was the only thing I can think of that angered Lord Google.

I’ve submitted my request and the process may take a few days, it may even take weeks or even more, but I’m willing to wait (there’s nothing really I can do but wait).

Upset With Entrecard

Posted by Melo

I happened to chanced upon a thread in Entrecard’s forum about JohnCow.com ditching entrecard and it linked back to a post in his own blog. I went to read the post to find out why a high profile blogger like him would ditch Entrecard and reading through the post I felt that he is kinda upset (maybe not) because a blogger with very few RSS subscriber surpassed his popularity within the Entrecard community.

He also mentioned that bloggers are gaming the system but dropping your card on hundreds or even thousands of blogs every day does not increase your popularity which is measured by your blog’s Ad Rate because ad rate is computed by the number of drops received by your Entrecard widget and not the other way around. So, the way I understand this is that even if you don’t drop cards but members continue to drop cards on you then you’ll be popular and have a higher advertising rate than other blogs. If 100 members dropped their cards on you then your blog’s ad rate will be 200 EC and you don’t have to drop any card to get that. Besides, I haven’t seen a blog that has a very low ad rate reach the Most Popular page. O_o

Google Toolbar Update and Pagerank 3

Posted by Melo

Yesterday I found out that this blog’s Toolbar Pagerank increased from PR0 to PR3. What does that mean? Well, PR is Lord Google’s way of ranking websites and the range is from 0 to 10. In Lord Google’s view, a high PR means that you are highly favored by Lord Google and it also indicates how important you are (your site) to him. I guess Lord Google is just showing this blog some love. LOL!

PR is also used by advertisers as a measure of value. Advertisers usually buy advertisements spots from high PR sites. In fact, many, if not all, get paid to post service providers use PR to value blogs for their advertisers. The higher your PR means you’ll get more high paying opportunities which usually involves posting a review with PR passing links back to the advertiser’s website.

Unlimited Backlinks from Qassia

Posted by Melo

Today, someone dropped me a message at Entrecard and at first I thought it was spam because he dropped it twice but I guess he just made a mistake. The message contains some information about a new website named Qassia. It looks interesting so I visited the page, read the information about what Qassia is and then registered.

Paid To Click/Surf/Read Programs, Do They Work?

Posted by Melo

I’ve known about these paid to click/read/surf programs offered by various websites but I’ve never really taken the time to look into them deeper. Today, I visited Bux.to to see how it works and how much I’ll earn by clicking and viewing ads but fortunately, I don’t have to go far with Bux.to because a sample earnings is listed on the main page and it was like $0.01 per click. Okay, that’s not a lot of money and I felt that it will take me forever to get to $100. So, do this programs really work? Are they really profitable? Will I earn money from it?

Search Engine Myth Exposed

I received a BlogCatalog broadcast about Search Engine Myth Exposed and it looked very interesting so I downloaded the sample chapter which is about Pagerank and Search Results and it kinda gave me a better understanding of pagerank and how it affects, or not, search results. The full report will be made available for free on January 9, 2008 and I’ll definitely get a copy because I might learn a few more things about Google, Pagerank, etc.
