Drop Entrecards Like Crazy

Posted by Melo

Let’s face it, as an Entrecard member we drop cards to earn Entrecard Credits. Credits which we can either use to buy Ads from other Entrecard members, use as a prize in a contest or for whatever purpose it may serve us. We can even sell it to other Entrecard members who are willing to pay for it. Now the problem with going through the normal process of dropping cards is that it takes too much time but while I was browsing Entrecard’s forum I learned a few simple tricks that made the process faster and it did. A few days back, I was able to reach the 300 card limit in less than hour but it is still far from “300 cards per 15 minutes” which was mentioned at The Entrecarder.

A few days ago, a program that automatically performs the task of dropping cards was exposed at the forum and this immediately caught the attention of one of the admin, PhiRate. As a quick solution, he immediately applied some updates to the widget. A noticeable change was with the “Drop yours” link, it’s now an image.

Anyway, while this was going on questions about dropping cards were asked and were also answered in other threads in the forum. One answer that caught my attention was from a member named BendzG because he mentioned a FireFox plugin called ImgLikeOpera. It seems that the plugin will allow you to control how images on a page or a website is displayed. It’s common knowledge that images or graphics can really drag a page loading speed but with this plugin you can control how images are loaded. I think its a really cool plugin so I immediately downloaded and installed it.

After restarting FireFox, my default page loaded without images but, like what I’ve said, you can control it. ImgLikeOpera’s control icon, which is a very small camera, is located at the bottom right corner of your FireFox window. There are four settings; Don’t load images, Load cached images only, Load images for this site only and Load all images. You cycle through it by clicking on the small camera or you can select a setting by clicking on the small triangle icon near it.

Now for us Entrecard droppers, not loading images will make the page loads faster and thus improving our dropping speed but unfortunately this also means that the Entrecard “DROP” image will also not load, right? Although, you can still click it since the image area is clearly visible but it will not record the drop. The “DROP” image must load for it to track the drop back to you. If not then you just wasted a click but with ImgLikeOpera you can create filters that will enable you to selectively load images. To do this, click on the triangle icon near the camera icon and select ImgLikeOpera settings. It will open a dialogue box with more options and three tabs; Cache, misc, Filters and Help. Our interest is with the Filters tab so click it to open it. Here you can set your filters.

Setting a filter is very easy, in our case we want to make ImgLikeOpera to only load images from Entrecard and we do this by placing Entrecard’s URL, http://entrecard.com, inside the text box labeled Filter and choosing a Filter policy which in this case is number 1, Load all images. Click the Add button to add it and the Apply button to apply it. Now, if we open a site all images will not load except the ones from Entrecard. The widget’s images will be shown except one and that’s the one hosted at amazon’s server. Well, I personally like to see all of the widget’s images so I set another filter to do just that.

After doing all of that, I was ready for another Speed Dropping run. For this run, again, I used PowerDropping.com’s list of fast loading Entrecard member websites. The browser I used was FireFox with the plugins Linky and ImgLikeOpera. With Linky, I was able to open multiple links at one go and with ImgLikeOpera, the site loaded without any images except for the widget. The addition of ImgLikeOpera to the mix really improved my dropping speed and I was able to reach the 300 drop limit in just 30 minutes. It was faster than my last run but, still, it’s far from the 15 minutes mark.

300 drops per 15 minutes is not an impossible task. With a better computer and a faster connection, I guess it can be easily done but for now I’ll settle for 300 drops per 30 minutes. If I discover or learn from other Entrecard members some new tricks then maybe I’ll try again just to see if I can further improve my dropping speed.
