Entrecard Drop Zone

Posted by User ImageMelo

As always, I was doing my daily round of Entrecard dropping when I chanced upon this particular blog called Entrecard Widgetsurf. At first, I thought it was just another framed Entrecard browser but I was wrong. It was totally different. How are they different? Well, they took the widgets from Entrecard member websites and placed them on a page or post. Each post contains 9 widgets tiled in a 3×3 grid (see screenshot).

Is this method legal? Well, according to them this method is legal.

Yes! This method is legal by EntreCard, since NOTHING IS AUTOMATED. You still need to drop the cards yourself. We just made it more convenient for you. - Entrecard Widgetsurf

Anyway, the method they created is definitely the most convenient way of dropping cards but it also removed the need to visit the websites the widgets belong to. If I’m not mistaken, dropping cards is a great way of discovering new websites, right? I guess with this method, discovering new websites is out of the picture. LOL!

Also, I got so curious that I went through the trouble of dissecting it. I just wanted to know how they were able to do it and fortunately, I was able to recreate it. Well, it wasn’t really that complicated. I just viewed the source and “voila”, everything was revealed to me. LOL!

By the way, I also sent the link to Entrecard to confirm if the method used at Entrecard Widgetsurf is really legal or not. I hope they respond to my message to them.

Update: I was just at Entrecard Widgetsurf and it seems that they have removed the pages (see screenshots). :(

Update: Below is the message sent by Entrecard to Entrecard Widgetsurf

“This site and the entire operation of pulling widgets from sites and placing them all on the same page is not allowed by Entrecard members. It devalues the network and we are prepared to take action against it.

In the future, everyone should be reporting this instead of joining up. We offer large credit bounties for turning these types of things in.”

Update: Nick, I deleted the original post because of errors. I messed up the HTML emebedded in the post. LOL! Please comment again!

Nick, I deleted the original post because the error in the embedded HTML messed up the layout. I also updated the post with new info, images and I also removed my re-creation of widgetsurf’s method.

Now, how do I get the bounty! I did send a message to them confirming the legality of Widgetsurf’s method. I hope noone gets mad at me for doing so. I just wanted to confirm it. Well, at least now we know it’s not legal. :)

A good job you did. While it might look like a smart way to earn Entrecard Credit, it will eventually destroy the whole system. Human being labor for things that are scarce, not items that are readily available. So getting Entrecard Credit through such system will eventually destroy the system. What gives the Entrecard Credit value is the fact that it is scarce and it takes some effort to accumulate it. Cheers.

Thanks, that’s why even though they said it was legal on their site I still tried to confirm it by asking and sending the link to Entrecard. :)

This is not allowed, will never be allowed, and sites/members who attempt to set these things up can be permanently banned from the network.

Hi Graham, I hope you receive my message to you. Please do something about it and make it impossible for anyone to pullout the widget. Thanks.

P.S. When can I receive the bounty. LOL!
