From Surveys To Conversations

Today, I noticed something new with dNeero when I went to check how my current survey responses were doing and that is they now call their surveys conversations. Their homepage also reflected the changed and it now shows more information about previous and current surveys, errr… conversations. They’ve also changed their tag line from “Social Surveys” to “True Social Network Currency“.

According to them, they’ve realized that they weren’t surveying but instead they were starting conversations. What they called surveys were really just starting points to conversations.

For me, the survey part was easy to understand but the conversation part, I don’t quite get it. As far as I know, a conversation is a two way process where two or more parties exchange information and views about a certain topic that interest them.

Honestly, I don’t remember doing that with dNeero. It has always been a one way process for me. I take a survey and I respond to it, is that a conversation already? It’s like somebody asked me a question and I answered it. I don’t that think that counts as a conversation, does it? Shouldn’t I be able to ask questions also to make it a conversation?

Well, dNeero kinda addressed that part of the conversation process. You see, from now on in order to complete the survey you are now required to ask your own question. The way I understand this is, if someone came to dNeero from your blog through your survey response and decided to take the same survey, your question will be added to the existing questions. As more people take the survey, more questions will be added.

It does kinda makes it look like a conversation but it’s still one way since the question you asked won’t be answered by the original person who asked you first but it will be answered by a new person. It’s like I asked you a question but instead of you answering it, someone answered it for you which is really not how a conversation works. If I asked you a question then it’s only natural that I’d expect the answer from you unless of course you can’t (or don’t want to) answer it and passed my question to someone else but that’s not the case here.

Anyway, that is just my take on what a conversation is and I also based it on how I’ve been using dNeero’s service as a blogger. Maybe, other bloggers are participating more by creating surveys in response to a survey they took which can be considered as a form of conversation since you are responding to the survey you took by creating your own survey. It’s unlikely but it’s not impossible.

As far as I’m concern, dNeero can call their program or service whatever they want as long as they’re helping, us, bloggers earn a few cents (or dollars) from it. dNeero provides a great service and their program helps hundreds (if not thousands) of bloggers make money from blogging and that’s the only thing that really matters.
