Software

Convert, Edit, Burn, Rip and More

Posted by Melo

As an online gamer, I love to create simple movies of my characters or avatars in-game (or in-world if it’s in Second Life). For example, in Second Life, I would use Second Life’s built in movie capture feature to save clips of my avatar’s actions and I will then use MovieMaker to piece them all together.

Once the movie is complete, I would then save it to my computer but the problem is MovieMaker saves its movies in .WMV format. This is fine if you are going to upload it into YouTube but I also want to show my created video in Second Life and to do that I need to upload my video in a format Second Life supports. In other words, I need to convert my video from .WMV format to either .MOV or .MP4 format with a video converter and then upload it to a video hosting/sharing site like blip.tv (so that I could grab the static URL of the video).

I searched Lord Google using the keywords “video audio converter” and the results page showed a list of video/audio converters from various sources. One listing grabbed my attention because of its description which is, “All-in-one audio/video multimedia application. Includes player, converter, editor, effects processor, recorder, audio/data CD/DVD burner, media management…” Who can resist an All-in-one software? LOL!

The link took me to Blaze Media Pro’s website and it’s loaded with a bunch of information about their software which is, unfortunately, not free but they do have a FREE 15 Day Trial version of the software and that was good enough for me.

Blaze Media Pro has a very cool and modern looking interface and it does not only look nice but it is pretty easy to use as well. I was able to convert my video from .WMV to .MOV without reading any manual or help file. After that was done, I then converted a some .OGG files into .WAV files with Blaze Media Pro’s audio converter feature. I got the .OGG files from Cabal Online (they are background music for the game) and I to convert them to .WAV files so that I can use them later.

I wasn’t able to try the other features like the dvd ripper, editor, burner and others because I was mainly after the converting part of the software but they are there for your use in case you do decide to try out Blaze Media Pro.

By the way, you can download a FREE 15 Day Trial of the software here!
