Card Expiring

It’s that time of year again where I have to renew the card I am using for my online transactions. Actually, I don’t have to apply to renew it since it renews automatically but what I don’t like about the process is that I have to get it personally from the issuing bank. I don’t understand that.

Please just mail my renewed card to me!

When I applied for it three years ago, they sent the card to me by postal mail when my application was approved but to get the renewed card, I have to go back to the bank where I got it every year? Why can’t they just send it to me by postal mail too? That is the part that I don’t understand.

By the way, the card I am using is just a debit card but it serves its purpose. I use it on all my online purchases besides, for some reason unknown to me, banks keep on rejecting my application for a credit card. Back in college, I remember getting a few student credit card offers but didn’t avail of one simply because I don’t really have much need for it at that time.

That was then. Now, everytime I apply for a credit card, not a student one, in any banks here in our locality my application gets turn down all the time. That’s why I settled for a debit card instead of a credit card. Applying for one is easy and it gets approve almost instantly. Of course, I’ll have to wait for a few days for the actual card to arrive.

Anyway, I still don’t understand why I have to go back to the issuing bank to get my renewed card when it was delivered by postal mail when I first received it three years ago. When I asked customer service about it they said that I have to sign a few documents. Duh? Can’t they send the documents with the card by mail and then I’ll just mail it back to them? I’ll even use FedEx to return the signed documents if they are worried about security.

Oh well, I guess there’s nothing much I can do about it. If I want to get my renewed card then I’ll have to travel a hundred kilometers to get it. Still, they should really just mail it to me.
