Medical Alert At Home

Yesterday, we had a medical alert. My mother-in-law suddenly called to ask my wife to accompany her to the hospital. It seems that she is experiencing some abdominal pains and, I guess, at her age, her threshold for pain is not that strong anymore.

My wife was doing our laundry at that time so she had to drop what she was doing. She immediately went to her parents home which was just a few blocks from ours and took her mother to the hospital. I didn’t go with them since I was left in-charge of the kids and, besides, I was working. Whatever the medical alert was, I’m sure my wife can handle it.

Medical alerts like this one isn’t not uncommon anymore. You see my mother-in-law is suffering from a few sickness. For example she has a heart condition and skin cancer. Her skin cancer is eating away her face and although it is treatable, her body can no longer tolerate the medicines for the treatment. An operation is out of the question because of her heart condition.

Anyway, we are happy to learn that the pain she was feeling that day was nothing serious. We are afraid that it could be ulcer since she hasn’t been eating that much these past few days but it was not. I wish me and my wife can do more for her but, unfortunately, all we can do for her is to be there when she needs us.
