The Internet

Video Entry Accepted

Posted by Melo

A few days ago, I posted about HBO-Asia’s Flight of the Conchords Video Trailer Making Contest where I created a 30 seconds video trailer in Second Life but was not able to submit it because of not being an HBO-Asia subscriber. Well, eleven days after I posted it a comment by someone who goes by the name of Angela said that an HBO subscription is not required. O_o. How was that possible? So, I went back to the entry submission page and tried to submit it but it always ask me for my HBO-Asia account information which, apparently, I have none. After a few more tries I gave up.

Please vote for our video. Thanks! :)

Later that day, my wife, who helped me create the video, was using our kids computer to check her e-mail and her friendster asked me if I was able to submit the video. I said no of course and then she said she’ll try to submit it so I said okay. She signed up with HBO-Asia and after just a few minutes she told me that the video was submitted. I was surprised and asked her how she did it. She said that she just filled in all the forms. I asked her about the HBO-Asia Account field and she said she just put in a ramdom number. OMG! Why didn’t I think of that? When I was submitting the video, I would always skip that field and leave it empty and that was creating the error. It never came to me to just put in a random number or numbers.

Wow! It seems that my non-web savvy wife is becoming more sharper than I when it comes to the internet. She doesn’t like the internet that much and she only goes online to check or write e-mails and check or update her friendster profile. That is all she does online. She doesn’t blog, she doesn’t browse that much and she does not enjoy chatting. Well, she did try to blog once but she got frustrated and mad when the editor didn’t save what she wrote. What she wrote was pretty long. It was so long that the editor’s session timed out and she lost everything when she was forced to relog. After that, she didn’t try again.

Anyway, below is our video trailer entry for HBO-Asia’s Flight of the Conchords Video Trailer Making Contest. There are two avatars in the video representing Bret and Jemaine. I was controlling Bret and the camera and my wife was controlling Jemaine. I shot it at my place in Second Life.

I know that our entry is already late and because of the confusion we kinda lost a few days in submitting the entry but I do hope that you guys would like the video enough to vote for it. Our video entry number is 17 so just look for V17: Rodylyn Itong“. Those who were able to submit early already has thousands of votes but as they say, “it ain’t over until the fat lady sing” and still don’t hear any fat lady singing so there is still a chance to win.

Vote for V17: Rodylyn Itong here!
