For me? I can’t remember how long since I was not the one using the computer when it got installed. It could be minutes or it could be hours but I’m glad it’s out of my system. ^^

How long was AV Care up and running for before it was finally removed?It has been on my computer for maybe 30-40 minutes,how much damage would that do,i’ve uninstalled it and i’m running two different spyware programmes,Malwarebytes and Spyware Doctor.

The best and pretty much only way to every remove these infections is to use an anti-malware program called ComboFix, it is designed to remove these and is totally free, we use it at work all the time to fix clients pc’s with the same issue. The problem with these fake antivirus is they hide in system files etc so are very annoying to remove, but combofix seems to do a great job! http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

I sympathize with you on this. I’ve had a similar incident last year involving some wallpapers that got installed. I wasn’t as informed then about sites like this and it took me weeks to finally uninstall it successfully. So now I’m very careful and I try to be up to date with thel lastest info. Thanks for sharing.
