  • Cheat Dropping Resolved?

    Entrecard | February 12th, 2010 by Melo 30 views

A few days ago, while dropping Entrecards on other Entrecard member websites, a post titled “EntreCard members get scammed by these members!” on Cornymans Money-Blog grabbed my curiousity and interest. The post talked about ghost dropping and even exposed those Entrecard members who were suspected of ghost dropping.

Afterwards, I started a forum thread at CMF Ads asking if there was any truth about this issue and the early responses that the thread received said that it was.

True? Yes. Back when I was with EC I performed a similar test for them. I kept the results secret at their request. When there is an incentive to script drops, there will always be cheaters. When I removed my Entrecard widget, I got drops for months from some of those quick drop sites. Pure fraud. – Turnip

Cheating isn’t really new in Entrecard. In fact, this particular issue made me remember a post I wrote almost a year ago about the same issue. In that particular post titled “Extreme Dropping of Extreme Gaming” a site named Extreme Dropping was displaying Entrecard widgets by other Entrecard members on single pages hosted on their own site not on the Entrecard member site. Of course, this practice was not allowed by Entrecard and Extreme Dropping was later shutdown. Read the rest of this entry »

    First Adgitize Payment Received

Show Me The Money | February 11th, 2010 by Melo 24 views

Adgitize, an inexpensive advertising network for bloggers, sent their very first payment to me as a publisher on their advertising network. The payment came as a surprised to me because I was not expecting it. The last time I checked my earnings, I was still a few dollars away from receiving any payment from Adgitize. How was this possible?

    Adgitize Payment

One or two weeks ago (maybe longer), Adgitize was experiencing some problems with their servers. This caused their services and their advertising network to be down for quite some time. To compensate their members, Adgitize picked the highest earnings day made by their members from January 2nd to January 29th and gave them the earnings from that day for all those missing days when Adgitize was down. Because of that, I was able to make more than enough to qualify for payout. Just want to let everyone who accidentally stumbles here know that Sponsored TweetsMegaMac Challenge will be ending this coming Sunday (January 31, 2010). The MegaMac Challenge is a Referral Contest sponsored by Sponsored Tweets.

    MegaMac Challenge

The challenge is to refer as many people to Sponsored Tweets as you can and the member with the most number of valid referrals will take home the prize. Of course, Tweeters with thousands of followers have a huge advantage over those with only a handful of followers. If you have a huge number of followers on Twitter then take a chance and join. You still have a few days to refer as many new members as you can. Read the rest of this entry »

    Comment Spam from Amsterdam, LOL!

Spams and Scams | January 19th, 2010 by Melo 80 views

I love getting comments from my visitors, I may not always reply to all of them but still I love getting them. I guess we can say that “comments are the life blood of our blogs” but, unfortunately, not all comments are good. In fact, some comments can be bad for your blog because most of them can have links to bad websites. These kind of comments are what we call SPAM.

Fortunately, most of the comment spams my blogs receive are handled and filtered out by Akismet and WP-SpamFree. These two plugins are great in fighting comment spam but not all comment spams are blocked. In some cases, a few spam comments can easily pass through both Akismet and WP-SpamFree. Just look at the screenshot below.

    Comment Spam

I received four comments in four different post from supposedly four different persons. Except from the names and the e-mail addresses used, all four are identical. All four were linked to the same blog, seomasterblog.com. All four came from the same IP address, 93.182.137.42, and all four have the same message. Read the rest of this entry »

The Internet | January 10th, 2010 by Melo 173 views

A few days ago, one of my blogs received a total of 962 views and that was also the day I signed up with Brinkin Banner Exchange. I learned about this particular Banner Exchange site while searching for a banner exchange plugin and, guess what, the search result has Brinkin Banner Exchange listed under the term “banner exchange”. I then clicked on install, read the Description and went to the site to register for an account.

By the way, I didn’t install the plugin instead I took the Javascript Code from their site and placed that on my sidebar using a Text Widget. To test it out first, I only placed the code to one of my blogs and created a campaign only for that blog as well. A few hours after my campaign was approved, that blog suddenly received a lot of views. Read the rest of this entry »
